Handmade journals
It starts with an old book. Books that are being thrown away. Sometimes the cover is salvageable, but the rest isn’t, sometimes the pages are pristine and cover is ruined and sometimes you find an amazing book with the perfect cover and pages. In the end, it doesn’t matter. It will become something new and beautiful and have a new life!
Are junk journals made from junk?
The short answer is yes… they can be. Junk journals are created using old books, envelopes, cards and other materials that people tend to throw away. But they also can include new materials including digital printed papers, scrapbooking papers, and stickers. It can also include vintage and new ephemera such as stamps, postcards, ledger papers, receipts, tickets, etc. Add some fabric, lace, ribbon or trim - vintage or new - and you have a beautifully handmade creation. They sky is the limit!
What do I do with a junk journal?
Well, anything really. You can journal in them (obviously). But there is so much more… this is just a short list of ideas:
Diary or daily journal for things like wishes or affirmations

So many options…
One of the things I like most is there are so many options with junk journals. From simple themes like botanical or butterflies to more specific themes like Alice in Wonderland or Mermaids.
